Women's Book Club
The TC Women's Book Club exists as a portal to expand worldview and increase insight into other cultures. Through international fiction, the life experiences of people around the globe are explored. As a result of this exploration, false stereotypes of cultures are identified and removed, allowing an unhindered view of underlying similarities that connect humanity. Perspective is gained in universal experiences such as marriage, childbirth, and coming of age; while at the same time experiences of the characters give insight to unique aspects of a specific people group. Historical events are seen through the eyes of the people who experienced them, broadening understanding of cultural foundations and global development. Occasionally, non-fiction books are selected that focus on current or past world events and how they interact with one another. The books read allow better identification with people in other cultures and an understanding of their ways; thus forming a global mindset that creates accurate interface with a global society.
